• Asphalt Shingles:

Shingles come in many different styles, colors and thicknesses. All shingles have a class a fire rating.

20 - 25 year 3-tab:

The thinnest and most inexpensive shingle available, 3-tab shingles are not recommended due to having a 60 mph wind rating. Colorado winds are known to exceed 100 mph at times. (This roof system carries a 3 year leak guarantee, instead of our standard 5 year leak guarantee.)

Architectural / Dimensional Asphalt Shingles:

We refer to this type of shingle as the Colorado standard. Available in a 30 or 50 year grade, these shingles offer the best value for your money. Most manufacturers offer an 80 mph wind rating for 30 year and 110 mph wind rating for the 50 year grade. We prefer Owens Corning shingles as they offer 110 mph wind rating on their 30 year shingles and 130 mph wind rating for their 50 year grade shingles. This is accomplished by using Sure Nail Technology. Read about this by Clicking Here.

Presidential / Woodcrest Shake Style Asphalt Shingles:

These shingles mimic the look of wood shakes without the fire hazard. Available in dual and triple layer thicknesses, 50 year and lifetime warrantees. These shingles look great and increase the value of your home. Wind ratings vary by manufacturer. Learn more by Clicking Here.

Class 4 Impact Resistant Asphalt Shingles:

Many manufacturers offer these hail resistant shingles. Several home insurance providers offer a substantial discount for applying these to your home. In many cases you can save up to 24% per year off your homeowners insurance! The lowest cost class 4 shingle we have found is manufactured by Malarkey. • Flat Roofing:

Due to the dangers and inconsistent sealing properties of hot mop asphalt and rubber torch down applications we have discontinued the use of both.

Polyglass Polymer Bitumen Membrane:

A self adhesive cold applied membrane is adhered in a two stage process with no exposed nails or fasteners. There is no danger of accidental fires due to insulation or wood ignition. This product comes in many colors and is strongly recommended for all residential flat roof applications. Click Here For More Info.

• Metal Roofing:

Colorado Roofing Repair are experts at metal roof applications. The 2 types of metal panels we recommend for residential and some commercial applications are as follows:

Pro Panel:

A corrugated, 36 inch wide, exposed fastener roof. This system uses painted hex head screws with rubber washers to secure panel.

Pro's: Lower cost & preferred look by some.

Con's: Sold as a "maintenance roof", the supplier recommends screws be inspected by a professional for the "backing out of the screws" every 7 - 8 years. This is caused by the vibration of metal panels due to high wind conditions. The tension strength of screws is determined by the thickness and hardness of your wood roof deck. Screws tend to back out of a 1/2 inch OSB wood sheathing much more that 3/4 or 1 inch sheathing. This is still a good roof, but much more care is needed in the application to insure longevity.

Image II:

This is a standing seam, hidden fastener, maintenance free roof. Available in 12" or 16" width's. Each panel is screwed down with specially treated screws to prevent rust and stain. The next opposing panel locks on to the next panel, covering the screws, eliminating the chance of damage due to wind vibration.

There are many different styles of metal roof systems available. Click Here to view what Metal Sales, Inc. has to offer.

• Note: Metal Panels Should Never Be Applied Over Any Type Of Roof For Several Reasons.

1) Screws can not be tightened to recommended tension due to the denting of the panels from sinking into the asphalt material. Low tension strength of the screws also subjects the panels to increased potential of damage due to high wind conditions.

2) The application of metal panels over asphalt shingles subjects panels to more heat due to the asphalt's ability to retain heat long after the sun has set. This breaks down the paint and UV coating much faster and voids the warrantee.

• Roofing Underlayments:

Colorado Roofing Repair only uses premium underlayments. We have discontinued the use of the traditional "tar paper" felt and now use Grace Tri-Flex synthetic underlayment. This is a superior product which will not tear, shrink, deteriorate from extreme heat and is much more water resistant. This is important for keeping your home dry during the roofing process.

• Ice and Water Shield

Specialized underlayment to protect your home from ice dam's. When applied correctly, your roof is virtually impenetrable from water intrusion caused by excessive ice damming. To find out more about underlayments Click Here.
